PAVERS
Interlocking paver use dates back over 2000 years ago to the Roman Empire where they developed a simple system for building roads. Some of the roads are still in use today.
Paving blocks are set in a friction base sand mixture, so that with cold and hot weather the expansion and contraction do not in any way create an ill effect. The joints between the pavers allow them to move in freeze and thaw cycles, but remain flexible.
Ice damage to paver hardscapes is virtually non-existent as they consist of small, high-density units that resist cracking and are stronger than ordinary or stamped concrete.
Pavers typically provide optimum performance for about 30 years, which is much longer than other pavements under normal residential use. Watch our Paver Patio video on YouTube

RETAINING WALLS
Not only do retaining walls provide necessary hold-backs of soil to prevent erosion, but function as an attractive accent to any home. A wall can be designed to feature steps, lighting and a raised patio as well as perform it’s main duty. All of these features can be constructed from a variety of materials that vary widely in cost and durability.
Man-made stacking block nest perfectly with each other and create a clean-lined appearance. Block come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors and profiles to fit almost any hardscape challenge.
Quarried stone bridges the natural environment and the home. It is available in wide selection of colors, sizes and textures.
Often when a retaining wall is needed, a drainage issue also presents itself. Since we are experts at drainage solutions, we can custom tailor downspout burial and drainage to integrate those items into the wall itself if needed.

Matt's hardscape specialty is helping homeowners get the most use of their outdoor living areas. Wisconsin's few months of outdoor entertaining encourages its residents to utilize their outside living spaces to their utmost. We also construct outdoor kitchen spaces, brick ovens, fire pits, fireplaces, fountains, arbors and trellis'. As a licensed utility contractor, Matt’s Services L.L.C. can also run water and gas lines for more permanent outdoor living accessories.
